How to Install a Ceiling Fan
The first step in ceiling fan installation is to remove the old ceiling light. This job is relatively easy, but you should have basic wiring knowledge and a ladder to reach the ceiling. Be sure to check with your local building department before starting, as permits are often required. Before you begin, make sure that the power running to the ceiling light is turned off, and that there are no obstructions in the way of the new fan. You will also need to install a switch leg to connect the new fan to the existing wall switch. Once you have unplugged the power, you should lift the motor assembly to the ceiling.
